What are the basic components that make up a computer program?

What makes it function, what causes variations in it (I don't know much about this stuff), as in what you can manipulate to make it do different things. Stuff like that.What are the basic components that make up a computer program?
Code.

That's it. How you write the code.

You say ';I don't know much about this stuff';. You are not going to learn coding, or programming here, not even the basics of how the ';stuff'; works.

You may want to read a book on .html code or c++ as these are typically the easiest to learn. Most people have basic access to some form of .html editor.

After you read all that you may be able to have your PC say ';Hello World';, the most basic program in c++.What are the basic components that make up a computer program?
';what causes variations in it';

variables, you use variables within all computer programs as place holders for information, it's very similar to the way they are used in algebra

';what you can manipulate to make it do different things';

usually various types of computer languages will come with libraries which are a bunch of common functionality that you can used to do taskes like generate random numbers, get the current date, mathematical function etc

they will also have support for things like a conditional branch, where you can test the state of some variable and perform a given action depending on that state or do some iteration (perform some task a certainn number of times)
The source code is what makes a program function the way it does.
all programs are just machine code e.g. 011010101001010, so if you wanted too you could write a computer program just using 1 and 0 's
